10 Tips About Training Programs


We have a couple of participants that are concerned about taking ANOTHER Training Program and are hesitant to get another "certificate." Are you feeling like this? Well, we've compiled a short list about why we think it's GREAT to enroll in training programs (no matter how many you've already taken)

1. Training Programs helps to display your interest in taking the first step to a specific career
2. Helps you identify your SKILLS that are needed to complete the job
3. Helps build strong habits (such as getting to work on time, eye contact, body language, interview skills, communication skills)... all the good stuff needed to get and KEEP your job!
4. Give you the skills needed to pursue ADVANCEMENT in the workplace
5. Teach you how to demonstrate your skills to an employer/authority figure
6. Determine your optimal work environment based on your specific needs
7. Explore alternate occupations, maybe you'll get a chance to try something totally new!
8. NETWORK. Training programs will give you a chance to meet new people who could potentially lead to a new job!
9. By doing a training program, you will be able to list your instructor as a current reference for your next job!
10. It looks GREAT on a resume. Shows employers initiative, organization, and the development of NEW SKILLS!

DIY Clean


Today we came up with a list of DIY cleaning products that you can make from ingredients in your very own kitchen for WAY cheap! 

Windex 
Half White Vinegar
Half Water
1 tsp Dawn

2 tsp Olive Oil (I used a bit more)
2 cups water
1/4 cup white vinegar
*Citrus fragrance

               Febreeze
           1/8 c fabric softener
Just add some citrus peels to vinegar and let it sit for a few days,

2 tbs baking soda
Rest water
*Lavendar fragrance

1/2 c vinegar
1/4 c baking soda
2 liters water
*Citrus fragrance

With all this talk of literacy, do you think we'd leave you all alone in the D? Of course not! There are people here who can help! Today we're sharing resources from the Dominican Learning Center in Detroit. If you would like to begin your path of literacy contact the Dominican Learning Center at 313-267-1000 and sign up for their Student Orientation (which basically introduces you to the program and how to get the most out of your studies!) The next Student Orientation is April 8th and May 6th and May 13th from 5-8pm.
