Tips for Stress Relief!

It is officially June in Detroit! We hope you are not stressing too much at this beautiful time of year, but if you are, we’ve gathered some wonderful tips to keep calm and enjoy the moment!

      1. Exercise – Now that its summer, there is no excuse of yucky weather! It’s gorgeous in Detroit! Get out there and relieve some stress by taking a jog or a brisk walk or even do some push ups/crunches in your backyard. Physical activity and a little sweat is a guaranteed stress reliever.
      2. Take a long walk – That’s what River Walk is made for! Utilize all that Detroit has to offer and walk the walk. Maybe you’ll meet someone new or get clarity on a problem that has been stressing you out, but above all you’ll feel more at peace.
      3. Laughter - Watch your favorite funny movie, sit back, and laugh! Laughter is truly the most natural medicine we’ve got! Maybe gather some family and friends and watch a movie together…the more laughter the better!
      4. Music – There’s a lot of affordable live music all over Detroit OR there is plenty of ways to listen to great music online for free (…more tomorrow). Find a favorite genre or a new type of music and get into it! Let it move you and fascinate you! Music is a great stress reliever.
      5. Make something – Cook a new meal, write in a journal, make a craft, start a new home project, do something with your hands. The act of creating something or working on something is inevitably relieving!
      6.  Do things for others – Does your neighbor need her lawn mowed? Can you volunteer at your local rec cente
r or does someone in your neighborhood need help moving or cleaning out the basement? Doing something for someone else will make you (and the person you are helping) feel so much better!

Hope you guys enjoy these tips! Let us know what you do when you are stressed! Remember: The key is to GET OUT THERE. Sitting in your house feeling stressed does not help the situation. Simply moving around will make you feel less stressed. We promise!
