6 Easy Health Tips!

I don't know about you, but the sunshine in Detroit this past weekend has got me feeling pretty happy, but the changing temperatures left me a little under the weather! With spring slowly approaching, the weather changing, and day light savings time snagging an hour from us, it is super important to stay healthy! We've collected the simplest most BASIC tips to staying healthy. You might have heard them before, but they're so good we thought you could hear them again :)

1. DRINK MORE WATER: This is the number one way to get sick. Do you know that most of the time when we are "hungry" we are actually thirsty? One way to stay hydrated is to carry around a large water bottle (or even an old gallon milk jug) (yes, you should be drinking that much water!). This will help remind you to keep drinking! Even adding some lemon or cucumbers or berries can liven it up a bit. Just keep drinking water!

2. WEAR SOCKS
My grandmother always insisted on this and grandmothers are most definitely right. Socks keep in our body heat and prevent those little chills that can creep up into our spine and get us sick quick! Even though 35 degrees might feel like spring to us in Detroit, it is important to stay warm and still keep on the socks!

3. EAT BREAKFAST
Not only does breakfast help kick start the metabolism, it also helps the body from starving itself and storing more fat later. Also, I don't know about you guys but without breakfast I am one crabby lady. Breakfast helps take some "me" time in the mornings to refocus and wake up with some positivity!

4. GET SLEEP
This is SO important. Please, get sleep. At least 7 hours a night! It is very important to allow our bodies to rest and restore themselves in the night.

5. EAT REAL FOOD
We know it can be difficult to find food in Detroit, but if you can incorporate just a bit more fruits and veggies in your diet we promise you will notice a difference in how you feel! Try to eat less processed things (we'll give you more details on this tomorrow!)

6. And last but not least EXERCISE. After a long hibernation winter, it is important to get the blood flowing! Try walking around your neighborhood or take the dog for a jog. The weather is warming up a bit so it should get easier to spend time outside! If not, try walking around your house or even doing a couple of jumping jacks in the morning. Anything to increase your heart rate will work wonders!
